A quick rundown of what’s happening in our world
Post Fest Re-stocks:
Candles are coming back into stock. We are focusing on getting a few of each current scent available, then we will go back through to boost stock levels to where they need to be to sustain them. We over half way to our goal and by the end of this week we should have all units back in stock. By December 1st, Wassail and Holiday Hearth will end production. We have limited supply of the fragrance blend for these seasonal offerings, so if it runs out before then we will end production at that point.
Room + Fabric Sprays are also being built up. These were a surprise hit at the fest as well and we didn’t even have all our planned scents made before the fest kicked off. Expect to see a Spray in 80-90% of all candle fragrance options. Some scents may no transfer well to a spray or it may not be popular enough to warrant a production run.
Stick Deodorants are nearly out of stock. We plan to fit these into our production schedule within the next 10 days. Due to their low stock status, we are considering opening up back orders for these items so they can be ordered to ship when in stock. There are logistical issues involved, if they are a part of a larger order we need to ensure shipping costs are not excessive to make this unprofitable to do so.
We need to block potentially fraudulent emails
Due to security issues, we can no longer accept emails to our Business to Business accounts that are not from a true business domain. Various fraud scams rely upon using yahoo, outlook and gmail accounts to attack businesses. The crazy number of scam emails we get in one day is out of control and each one comes from a free email service. Our general public and customer service email accounts will not be affected by this security measure. This is purely for our purchasing and sales department accounts and there is an added level of screening to our named team member accounts to ensure fewer scam emails make it through to us.
Video Content in the works.
The early stages of our planned video content for YouTube and maybe TikTok has begun. We plan to produce content in bulk to then distribute over time with a feature topic each month for the main content. This is so we can have a cohesive video series where we can explore more of the subject and keep a shorter average per video length. Other concepts will be peppered in between that will vary in format. These may be product specific discussion, general topical discussion or a light round-table chat with members of our team and/or guests.
On the personal side, I am not one that is comfortable being under the spotlight. Somewhat of a shy introvert and having to live with a neurological disorder that makes me shake or tremble, I get very anxious when I need to speak to a crowd or be the center of attention. Until I get accustomed to doing these videos, the first videos are likely to be a little awkward for me. This is a key reason why we have not had much video content in the past. In person engagements over the years inspire me to share my stories more. It is gaining the confidence that I can do this has held me back.
We have them…. Our goal will be to keep all our products available in sufficient quantities throughout. With the increase of order volume and necessary inventory, our space may meet capacity. With USPS “slowing down” processing, we need to be more efficient in order processing and keep hard deadlines to provide balance between production and shipping. With this, all orders will ship at the earliest on the next business day. Formerly our policy was that if we receive an order before mail pick up we would work to get it out the door that day.
We need to start the day knowing what we must accomplish that day. Orders received by 9am will ship that day (unless there are custom items or added services that may take an extra day). Once all orders are processed and shipped we will then transition into administrative and manufacturing tasks. If these tasks are completed before the end our work day, we will start to process any orders that arrived throughout the day to ship the following day. We will not be processing orders over the weekend. Weekends will be limited to pick ups and our personal time off as we are closed during weekends.
We have a couple big sales planned for the holidays with temporary price reductions on some very popular items and sale prices on many others. We will keep you posted!
Free Value Shipping threshold for the Holidays
Due to the dramatic increase to shipping rates we pay, we are not able to lower the Free Value Shipping threshold this year to $49 order subtotal. As we have shared previously, we charge less than what we actually pay for shipping. The lowest we pay for shipping is over $8.00, while we only charge $7 for shipping.
The other option for us would be to raise all our prices to cover the shipping expense. This is a tactic used by most of our competitors that we abhor as it misrepresents the value of the product. It is risky and can alienate many customers who are more attracted to the item price and find shipping a necessary added expense.
In lieu of the lower the threshold to earn free shipping, we are going to offer shipping coupons at peak periods that will still require an order minimum. These coupons are able to be product or category specific, so we can offer the free shipping on items that sell more frequently that also make us more money and are less expensive to ship. Candles and Liquid Soap are likely to be excluded due to their weight and lower margins.
Chicago area customers can still select Free Pick-Up to avoid shipping fees, and everyone is welcome to join Primp + JÖL Club at the Pro level to always get Free Shipping and save on every order.
We are going to increase the number of order/purchase triggered emails. These emails will be designed to save you money on a future purchase, promote products related to past purchases or to encourage engagement with product reviews. There will be caps on how many emails any user will get in a period of time to prevent overwhelming anyone with a barrage of overlapping offers. Our mission is to call attention to some items as well as invite customers to shop with us more. By no means will we end up like other sellers that slam your inbox full of daily emails of sale after sale of general items. Being that we don’t believe in big sales, we rather offer on point discounts on select items or offer a target deal on the items one is already buying.
These email offers will only go out to those that have shopped with us, with some of out offers being sharable so you can let a friend join in. To ensure you get the emails and have them readily available to use whenever you shop, create a user account which will also add you to Primp + JÖL Club Starter, which will also give you a modest discount on nearly everything we make.
Other Holiday tidbits:
We may bring back gift wrapping as a “cart” add-on option – a flat fee to gift wrap everything in a single order. The per-product add-on was making each product listing on our site cluttered. If we do a per item discount, it will be a simple yes/no option with a per unit charge. Leading to only those items selected being gift wrapped. We will do a little testing to see what looks best and can be the better experience for our shoppers.
We plan to introduce multiple shipping address capabilities, to make it easier to ship to an alternate address stored with your account.
