LOTS OF NEWNESS
If you have been following our social media, you may have seen a lot of activity recently. With summer reaching its peak, we are gearing up for the fall. This time of the year is often rather slow for us online which suits our needs to prepare for the uptick in business starting in September. There will be so much NEW and RE-NEWED coming!
We are putting the final thoughts together on what scents we will introduce for Autumn/Winter and we have found a couple wonderful Holiday candle scents for, well, the Holidays.
Following our blog, you likely saw that we are bringing back SOLID COLOGNE under the JÖL brand. As part of elevating our image, we are setting this renewed classic as being the benchmark for where we wish to be headed. We are doubling down on simplicity as we heighten a sense of luxury – yet we are still keeping our prices in line with our values.
ANNOUNCING BIG BAR SOAP!
What is BIG BAR? It’s our descriptive name for our new line of bar soaps that are going to slowly roll out over the coming weeks. BIG BARs will be “blocky” and rough around the edges and a little irregular in overall form. We could trim them to make them pretty, but the goal here is performance over beauty. One use and it will be perfectly rounded. Although the bars will be bigger, the prices will remain where they have been. Regular Shea Butter bath bars will be $7.00, specialized bars will be $8.00 – this is because of the added ingredients cost more.
Why rough? The soap will be hand poured into loaf molds to then be hand cut into bars. While other shave sides, bevel edges and decorate the tops; our know these bars are going to get used. Maybe even abused. Why generate waste to only make it slightly more refined in appearance? In return, we are giving you a bigger bar for about the same price.
First up is the return of a pumice hand soap. SCOURING PUMICE BIG BAR SOAP will be a Shea Butter + Oatmeal soap bar with pumice swirled in to tackle working hands. The bars will be a vibrant orange to coordinate with the orange oil we have added that will help break down the grime when used. These are already in our store, waiting for our photographer to get back from vacation to get pictures posted.
Each week we hope to add one more bar to this line, starting with new scents and then replacing popular scents that had been discontinued under the old style.
The BODY SPRAY has returned with an alcohol free formula. The first 3 scents are already up, there will be more to come as we replace the clearance inventory of the old formula.
SPRING/SCENTS are heading off into the sunset. Come August they will go into the vault. The AUTUMN/WINTER scents will start to arrive in September, HOLIDAY scents will come in OCTOBER. Some scents may only be available in CANDLES.
Speaking of candles, we have plans to introduce MELTS this Autumn. These will be in our MOST popular candle fragrances at launch. Expect to see this arrive by NOVEMBER.
We wish to touch on the struggles we are still experiencing. As many know, this time of the year we normally would be found at area Street Festivals in Chicago. Although some of these events have returned, we are not 100% comfortable in taking part in some of them. The festivals we most enjoy are not being planned for this year. These festivals were a core part of our revenue and gave us the ability to properly prepare for our second biggest season: the holidays. Online sales kept us going through the last year but with more people heading out and enjoying our more open society, we have seen our “normal” summer sales levels drop. Industry analyst are pointing to the increase of restaurant and bar business is a factor. Since we do not have a standard retail location, we are feeling this more than other retailers. We are looking to our longtime customers to give us a look and see all that is new and maybe pick up a favorite item or 2. If there is something we are missing, please share with us what it is so we can address it.
