When we first launched an online presence for J&L, we made privacy an important topic in everything concerning our customers and shoppers. Why? Simply because we wish to build trust with you. We have read the news stories and see the industry data on how easily a person’s personal information can end up on the internet and made accessible to those who don’t care about your security. Those of us behind the scenes here have experienced fraudulent activity and misuse of our information by businesses and individuals, so we get it how harmful it can be.
When we say we do not share your information, we mean exactly that. Your name, address, email, phone number are not made available to any person or service directly or indirectly associated with your profile/account, with the exception of our payment processor for credit/debit purchases. The only time we interact with your information is when we ship your order, or to provide customer service when requested. As for our credit/debit payment system, it is considered the safest out there for online business and utilizes many layers of validation to assure you are who you say you are when you provide your payment information. They do not share with us any of the information that is necessary for them to acquire. Your interaction with us, and with them, is encrypted and secure. Once they receive your payment details they apply their security measures and report to us that your payment is accepted. We never see your credit/debit card number – not even the last 4 digits.
Why we encourage customers you to create an account?
Outside of the benefits it may offer you, which include: Ease of your coupons and any credit you have acquired. Tracking of order history. Ease is signing up for or cancelling any newsletter subscriptions. We get to see what people come back to us to buy.
When we do not have a user specific history, it all gets lumped together as “unknown user” and becomes far too general for analysis. We don’t see how often a single user comes back and what they have bought from us in the past. Because we don’t know if they are a returning customer, we have to believe they are not returning and possibly we are doing something wrong. Yes, we recognize names and places when we process an order, but we don’t recall all that a person has done with us. Our memory of such is narrow and limited.
We created the Basic level of Primp+Jol Club as a means to encourage shoppers to create an account with us and in return we give them a little discount as a thank you. It was created as something one had to seek out and find to be able to join. Well, we made it too hard to find. By being an “item” you had to add to your cart, shoppers didn’t know of its existence. Awareness wasn’t there and as much as we tried to talk it up, word was not spreading well enough. Our membership club was created as a means to reward regular customers with savings. The paid membership gives bigger savings and free shipping – much like some online retailers offer.
Our solution is to tie it directly to a user account at set up. Now, immediately upon creating a user account the free Basic Primp+Jol Club plan is added to your account and you immediately start saving on most everything we make. In addition to the benefits of a user account as stated above, you also have access to Membership exclusive items, which we are expanding with more options in the near future. The intent is to offer limited run items, early access to new items, product combos and sets, and larger sizes of some of our most popular items. We can also offer limited time Member Special pricing on products so you can save even more. All of this will be visible under your My Account page once you log into your account. Member exclusive items and sets are priced for members, and will not have an additional discount.
If you forget your password, we can push a password reset link to your email address on file OR you can use the Forgot Password process on our site when a login attempt failed which will be more immediate. From there you can reset your password. If you were to email us with a request to update information or apply past orders to your new account, we will have the ability to do so. We cannot change any credit/debit card information, or alter payment application to any past or current order. This is all for your financial safety.
We are working to make it possible for all of our club members to be able to easily apply their discounts in person, whenever we have a Pop-up experience.
At J&L we respect your privacy the same way we respect our own. By creating a user account with us, you save while you have full control over your information. If you ever feel that what you have shared with us is too much or have concerns about your privacy, you can contact us to have your account deleted and data removed from our history.
